Selenite is used for making decorative objects and jewelry. It is a white-yellow mineral, a type of translucent gypsum. Its name is derived from the Greek “selene”, meaning “moon”. Selenite resembles the satellite with its shade and characteristic needle-like fibers, which create shimmers of color – an attractive optical “lunar” effect.
